After arriving the second time, I took them over to my father to give them to him. He laced them up and WOW!! What a terrible fitting pair of "custom" boots. They were far too big (length wise - almost 3/4") and the lace up (around the tongue) looked terrible. After seeing how big they were, I put them on myself. The boots almost fit me.....shouldn't have though as my father is a 9-1/2 and I wear a 12.
I have been wearing Russell boots and shoes since I was 12 and I have never experienced any problems with craftsmanship now with service. I will wear Russells and will them to my grandchildren. It is how I received my first pair.
I bought my first pair of Russell's 8 years ago, for hiking over many kinds of terrain. I wanted a boot that wasn't gonna break in 6 weeks of rough or disassemble in 6" of mud. These boots excel in every challenge I've thrown at them, I literally have dozens of other boots that I no longer even consider wearing
You can pay a little more up front or you can purchase less, but more frequently. Do the math.

Anyway to make a long story short - Sue refunded my money (less the original shipping fee) and never refunded me for the 2x I had to send them back to her factory. This was only after giving me some baloney run around about single vamp vs. double vamp construction. Ahhhh......Sue - custom boots are custom boots. They should fit your feet no matter how many vamps :)
My first pair of Russell Bird Hunters has lasted 38 years and still going strong. I have since acquired several others Russell offerings for various purposes. All have been of outstanding quality. The Bird Hunters were recently sent back for some cosmetic restoration which they didn't really need but they had been benignly neglected. Russell resurrected them and they are wonderful. This company's quality and customer service are a Gold Standard.

Bought a pair of "custom" boots for my father for Christmas. Measured/traced his feet and sent in order. Boots arrived in the April time frame. When they first arrived they had shipped the order without installing the speed laces which I had purchased. Called them up, talked to Fred and shipped them back at my expense. Said I would get reimbursed, but never did.
So to say I would buy another pair or deal with this company..........not even if you bought them for me.
